ISLAND COMPETITIONS LTD – TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Island Competitions Ltd ("the Promoter", "us", "we", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15205206, with its registered office at 57 Seaview Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 7UN. We operate various online prize draws resulting in the allocation of prizes in accordance with these terms and conditions on the website www.islandcompetitions.co.uk ("the Website"). By entering a competition, the entrant ("Customer", "you", "yours", "entrant", "member") will be deemed to have the legal capacity to do so, will have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions, and agree to be bound by them and any other requirements set out in the Promoter’s material or website.
1.1 Competitions are open exclusively to persons aged 18 or over who reside in the United Kingdom or the Channel Islands.
1.2 Legal Status: These competitions are categorised as unregulated Free Prize Draws under the UK Gambling Act 2005. Because the Website provides an entirely free entry route (via the postal method detailed below) that offers the exact same mathematical chance of winning as the paid entry route, no lottery or gaming licence is required to operate these competitions in Great Britain.
1.3 The Promoter reserves the right to cancel a customer’s account if it considers the customer is submitting entries on behalf of others, that it is not genuinely the customer entering competitions, or if it considers that a customer is abusing its services, being abusive to staff and/or other customers, using defamatory or offensive language on social media or elsewhere, or has contravened any of these terms and conditions. Closure of a customer’s account in this situation will mean that the customer will not be allowed to enter any competition either by post or paid entry.
1.4 The Promoter may have various competitions running at the same time and each competition will have a specific prize(s) and can have instant wins as set out in these terms.
1.5 Employees of the Promoter or anyone connected to the Promoter through family, business, or commerce are prohibited from entering competitions.
1.6 By participating in a competition either online or by postal entry you hereby confirm you are not breaching any laws regarding the legality of entering our competitions in your jurisdiction. The Promoter will not be held responsible for any entrant entering our competitions unlawfully.
1.7 The Promoter reserves the right to refuse a customer’s entry at the Promoter’s own sole discretion.
1.8 Ticket Pricing and Consumer Regulations
1.8.1 All ticket prices listed on the Website are stated in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and represent the total final price payable by the consumer. All internal backend business tax liabilities, processing fees, and operational accounting parameters are handled exclusively by the Promoter in the background.
1.8.2 Statutory Rights: In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, paid entries into our draws constitute the immediate supply of digital services. By completing a transaction and purchasing a ticket, the Entrant explicitly acknowledges and agrees that the service begins immediately, thereby waiving any statutory right to a 14-day cooling-off or cancellation period. All paid entries are final, non-cancellable, and non-refundable.
1.9 An entrant can only purchase a certain number of tickets for each competition. The maximum number of tickets will be displayed on each competition page. Any entrant found to have purchased more than the maximum number of tickets may have their excess tickets refunded and voided.
2.1 Availability and pricing of all competitions is at the discretion of the promoter and will be specified on the website. Each competition will feature an identical free postal entry route. Each competition will run for a specified period; please see individual competitions for details on start and end times, prizes, and instant wins.
2.2 Fixed Closing Mechanism: The opening and closing dates for each individual draw are clearly specified on the respective competition page on the Website. The closing date and time are absolute.
2.3 Early Closures & Instant Sell-Outs: The Promoter reserves the right to end the promotional period of any competition early if a draw is fully sold out ahead of its fixed deadline.
2.3.1 Where a competition is closed early dynamically due to a total sell-out (meaning 100% of the maximum listed allocation of online and postal tickets has been fully claimed), the entry pool is locked automatically. Because no further entries can legally be accepted, the platform may execute an automated draw or live broadcast draw immediately upon sell-out without providing a notice window, as no prospective entrants or pending postal routes can be disadvantaged.
2.3.2 Where a competition is closed early due to a discretionary decision by the Promoter while tickets remain unallocated, the draw will remain open for at least three (3) clear business days following our official public announcement on the Website before the entry pool is finalized and drawn.
3.1 To enter any competition online, you must first create an account on our website. To register an account, you must provide us with your full name, residential address, date of birth, email address, and telephone number. All entries must be received before the competition close date as stated on the website.
3.2 The contact details provided will be used to confirm an entry, to notify the winner if they have won a prize, and to post the winner’s name and/ or photographs on our website and social channels for promotional reasons unless requested otherwise by the entrant, and in any other way set out by our privacy policy.
3.3 When participating in a competition online via the Website, the Entrant must log into their verified account and follow the custom user interface instructions to:
a) Select the desired active competition page.
b) Choose the number of tickets they wish to purchase (subject to the maximum individual entry caps stated on the draw page).
c) Review and accept these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy via the mandatory checkout validation tick-box.
d) Complete secure payment processing via our authorised payment gateways, Cashflows or PayPal.
e) Upon successful verification of the transaction from the respective gateway to our application backend, the platform will automatically generate and allocate unique ticket number(s) to the Entrant's account, confirmed via an automated system email.
3.4 Whether submitting an online entry or a postal entry, you will not be deemed entered into the competition until we confirm the entry in your account when you log in or you receive a system email confirming it. All online entries are final, and no refunds will be made unless in breach of individual ticket caps.
4.1 To enter a competition for free by post, all entrants must have a registered account on the website. Entrants must send an unenclosed postcard via first or second-class post to: Island Competitions, 57 Seaview Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 7UN.
4.2 The postcard must contain the following information printed clearly:
a) The exact name of the live competition you wish to enter.
b) Your full name and permanent residential address.
c) A valid contact telephone number and the email address associated with your registered site account.
d) Your date of birth (confirming you are aged 18 or over).
4.3 Postal entries will be processed daily by the Promoter. Hand-delivered mail posted directly through our letterbox, bulk entries enclosed within a single envelope, or postcards missing any required account criteria will not be processed.
4.4 Entry Volumetric Parity: Free postal entrants are permitted to submit multiple entry requests for any individual competition, provided each individual entry request is physically authored and sent on a separate, distinct unenclosed postcard. The maximum number of postal entries processed for any single registered user account shall perfectly match the maximum individual ticket purchase cap specified on that specific draw’s online product listing. Any postal requests received exceeding the individual entry limits will be discarded.
5.1 Drawing Mechanisms: Competitions are concluded using one of two distinct, transparent selection methods, which will be clearly displayed on each individual competition listing:
5.1.1 Live Broadcast Draws: The Promoter will utilize a verified random number selector (such as Google Random Number Generator or equivalent automated software) live-streamed directly on our official Facebook page or alternative designated live video platform.
5.1.2 Instant Automated Draws: For designated automated competitions, the custom platform will execute an immediate, server-side automated draw the exact second the competition window closes or hits 100% hard ticket capacity. These auto-draws are executed dynamically on the backend database logs using the pre-determined cryptographic seeding matrix detailed in Clause 14. These draws are entirely computerized, do not feature a live video broadcast feed, and the winning ticket number is published automatically on the Website dashboard immediately upon execution.
5.2 The Promoter’s decision in relation to the winner of a competition is final. In the event of an absolute technical malfunction when drawing a winner during a live broadcast or an automated system sequence, the Promoter may at their sole discretion re-run the draw mechanics to determine the true winner.
5.3 Details of each Prize can be found on the website under that competition. The Promoter may at their discretion substitute a prize with another item of equivalent or greater value.
5.4 Age Verification and Forfeiture: Competitions are strictly closed to individuals under the age of 18. While initial registration relies on user self-certification, the Promoter operates a strict verification protocol prior to the dispatch of any physical prizes or the processing of any wallet withdrawals. All winners must submit clear, valid government-issued photographic identification (Passport or UK Driving Licence) matching the name registered on the account to prove they are 18 or over. If a validation check reveals an entrant is under 18, or if the entrant fails to provide satisfying proof within 14 days of the request, the entry will be deemed illegal, the win will be completely voided, any site wallet balances will be wiped, and the prize permanently forfeited.
5.5 Physical prizes will be delivered free of charge within the United Kingdom. All expenses incurred by a winner to collect a prize are the exclusive responsibility of the winner. All prizes are final and non-transferable.
5.6 The Promoter will hold any physical prize(s) for 30 days free of charge if the Promoter is unable to contact the winner using their registered details. After this 30-day period, the prize will be permanently forfeited.
5.7 The prizes are selected by the Promoter and are owned or purchased by the Promoter from the date the competition goes live. The Promoter takes no responsibility for the prize after delivery has been completed, and no corporate insurance extends to the winner. All individual taxes and duties payable in connection with a prize shall be the winner’s responsibility.
6.1 Winners will be asked for their explicit consent to provide photographs and/or pose for promotional media. Consented details, names, and photographs will be used on our website and social channels for promotional reasons in accordance with our data privacy guidelines.
7.1 The Promoter makes or give no representations and/or warranties of whatever nature and howsoever arising as to the quality or suitability for any particular purpose of any of the goods or services advertised, offered, or provided as prizes.
7.2 The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss suffered or sustained to person or property (including but not limited to consequential loss) by reason of any act or omission by the Promoter or its agents in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods by any person to the prize winner(s).
7.3 The total maximum aggregate liability of the Promoter to each prize winner shall be limited strictly to the total retail value of each prize won by the relevant prize winner.
7.4 The total maximum aggregate liability of the Promoter to you as an entrant where no prize has been won shall be limited to the exact amount you have paid for your ticket(s) in that specific draw.
7.5 Nothing in these terms and conditions shall prevent you from making claims to the extent that you are exercising your statutory rights. The Promoter shall accept no responsibility or liability for any costs, losses, damage, or expenses arising from the fraudulent use of your account.
8.1 Your password and login details are personal to you and should not be given to anyone else or used to provide shared access over a network. You must use a password which is unique to your account and maintain good personal internet security.
8.2 If you forget your password, you can reset it by following the automated instructions on the website interface. You must contact the Promoter immediately if you believe, suspect, or know that anyone apart from you has accessed your account or if your password has been compromised.
8.3 You must keep your account password secure and secret at all times and take steps to prevent it being used without your permission. You must: (a) memorise your password and never tell it to anyone; (b) never write your password down or record it in a way that can be understood by someone else; (c) destroy any communications from the Promoter in relation to your password as soon as you have read them; (d) avoid using a password that is easy to guess; (e) ensure that no-one else uses your account while your devices are logged on to the Website; (f) log off or exit from your account when not actively using it.
8.4 The Promoter shall not be responsible and/ or liable for any and/or all consequences arising out of and/or relating to any and/or all breaches of account security by you.
9.1 Intellectual Property Ownership: The Promoter is the absolute owner or licensee of all intellectual property rights on the Website, including but not limited to the custom React frontend code, backend source architectures, database configurations, algorithmic seeding logic, graphic designs, interfaces, photography, videos, branding, and text components. All such rights are strictly reserved under UK and international copyright laws.
9.2 Extraction and Scraping Prohibitions: You are strictly prohibited from copying, reproducing, duplicating, or mimicking any element of the Website or its competitions for commercial or non-commercial use. The use of automated data collection tools, including data scrapers, bots, web-spiders, screen-scraping tools, or API manipulation scripts to harvest data, image files, or user transactional patterns from the Website is strictly forbidden.
9.3 Legal Enforcement: Any unauthorized attempt to clone our UI, reverse-engineer our random number workflows, or scrape content will result in immediate permanent account termination, a lifetime platform ban, and immediate escalation to our legal representatives for civil damages and copyright infringement claims.
9.4 A person who is not a party to these terms and conditions has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any provision of these terms.
9.5 The Promoter will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under these terms where the delay or failure results from any cause beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, industrial disturbances, electrical or power outages, utilities or other telecommunication/network failures, embargoes, riots, acts or orders of government, acts of terrorism, or war.
9.6 All competitions are governed by English law, and all matters or disputes relating to the competition will be resolved under English law. The courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
9.7 The Website may contain hyperlinks to websites operated by third parties. We do not control such websites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Inclusion of hyperlinks does not imply any endorsement of the material or association with their operators.
10.1 All online transaction payments are securely processed off-site via the Cashflows Hosted Payment Page framework or the secure PayPal payment portal. The Entrant will be temporarily redirected away from the Website’s React environment to the respective encrypted gateway portal to safely submit their payment details.
10.2 Gateway Webhook & Notification Confirmation: An entry sequence is only initiated when our backend API receives a verified, cryptographic webhook confirmation directly from Cashflows, or an Instant Payment Notification (IPN) data packet from PayPal, confirming a successful, fully "settled" status. The Promoter accepts no liability for transaction failures caused by the Entrant closing their browser window or app prematurely, dropping local internet connectivity before the gateway returns the redirect payload, or failing provider authentication protocols (such as 3D Secure or PayPal security checks).
10.3 Entry Voids on Reversals and Disputes: If a payment processing signal from Cashflows or PayPal is subsequently reversed, flagged as fraudulent, disputed, or hit with a bank chargeback/PayPal dispute after an entry ticket number has been generated, that allocated entry will be instantly stripped from the active database pool and voided. If the affected ticket number wins a main prize or an Instant Win prize before the reversal or dispute is settled, the win is legally voided, the prize is entirely forfeited, and the Promoter retains the absolute right to civilly recover any physical prizes or cash funds already dispatched.
11.1 The Website is built upon a custom React frontend architecture communicating dynamically with remote application programming interfaces (APIs). The Promoter, its developers, and hosts accept no responsibility or liability for local internet connectivity failures, device-side browser caching errors, React state-synchronisation drops, or temporary third-party API communication timeouts experienced by the Entrant during checkout.
11.2 Definitive System Log: For the avoidance of absolute doubt, an entry is only deemed valid when it is securely recorded as a completed transaction in our central relational database server. Visual client-side confirmations, browser session states, or local storage arrays on the Entrant’s device do not constitute proof of entry if a corresponding successful server-side record does not exist. In the event of a system crash, network partition, or catastrophic hardware failure resulting in a corrupted draw, the Promoter reserves the right to void the affected draw and issue complete site credits or gateway refunds to all impacted parties.
12.1 Any personal data that you supply to the Promoter or authorise the Promoter to obtain from a third party will be used by the Promoter to administer the competition, maintain account balances, and fulfill prizes where applicable.
12.2 In order to process transactions and remain compliant, the Promoter may disclose personal information to: (i) our payment processor gateways (Cashflows and PayPal); (ii) any regulatory or legal authority in order to comply with statutory mandates; and (iii) third-party tracking or auditing systems explicitly tasked with preventing fraud or money laundering. All data is handled strictly in accordance with UK GDPR laws and our Privacy Policy.
13.1 Monthly Spending and Gateway Limits: To protect players and maintain secure processing parameters, the Promoter completely prohibits the use of credit cards on the Cashflows gateway across the entire Website; Cashflows transactions are strictly restricted to valid debit cards. To ensure spending thresholds are managed safely across third-party digital wallets, all transactions executed via PayPal are subject to a strict hard cap of £250.00 per calendar month per Entrant across the entire Website, resetting automatically on the first day of each calendar month.
13.2 Responsible Play Controls: Entrants have the right to restrict their access to the Website at any time to support responsible play. The custom account profile dashboard provides two distinct tools for managing account access:
13.2.1 "Take a Break" Facility: Entrants may choose to temporarily restrict their account activity for specified durations (such as 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). Once activated by the user, the backend system will instantly restrict the account to prevent all spending, competition entries, and gameplay (including spinning). However, users will retain access to view their account dashboard, check their current balance, and process withdrawals of any winnings. Temporary breaks are strictly binding and cannot be overridden, shortened, or cancelled early by customer support.
13.2.2 Full Self-Exclusion: For longer-term restrictions, Entrants may initiate a formal Self-Exclusion directly through their profile dashboard or by emailing support with the subject line "SELF-EXCLUSION".
13.3 Self-exclusion periods operate under a mandatory minimum duration of six (6) calendar months. During an active self-exclusion period, the backend database will automatically lock the profile, prevent the purchase of entries, reject postal registration attempts, and strip the user's details from all automated marketing lists. Reversing a self-exclusion before the 6-month period has expired is strictly impossible.
14.1 Pre-Determined Allocation: The Promoter operates competitions featuring "Instant Win" prizes. All winning ticket numbers are completely pre-determined and locked into our central database structure prior to the respective competition being launched to the public.
14.2 Cryptographic Seeding & Verifiable Fairness: To guarantee absolute fairness and transparency, every Instant Win draw utilizes a secure server-side generation sequence governed by a unique cryptographic "seed." This process generates a randomized, tamper-proof array of winning numbers before ticket sales open. Once generated, this winning data array is encrypted and hashed within the backend architecture, ensuring it cannot be viewed, accessed, or altered by any staff member, third party, or entrant.
14.3 Live Ticket Matching: When an Entrant purchases a ticket (or when a free postal entry is processed into the database), the custom platform assigns a sequential or randomly allocated ticket number. If that newly assigned ticket number perfectly matches one of the pre-determined, hashed Instant Win numbers in the pre-set data array, the platform flags the transaction as an Instant Win.
14.4 On-Screen Notification & Validation: Winners will be notified immediately on-screen via the website interface upon a successful ticket purchase sequence, followed by an automated system email confirmation. For the avoidance of doubt, client-side animations or frontend visual alerts do not constitute an absolute win. A prize is only legally won when the matching ticket sequence is verified and permanently written to our central server transactional log.
14.5 Credit Card Exclusion: Pursuant to merchant operating rules, gateway configurations, and industry compliance frameworks, credit cards are completely prohibited on the Website via the Cashflows gateway. Entrants utilizing PayPal to purchase entries into any competition—including those featuring an Instant Win mechanic—are strictly bound by the global platform spending cap of £250.00 per calendar month detailed in Clause 13.1.
14.6 Free Postal Route Integration for Instant Wins: Postal entries received for an active Instant Win competition will be processed daily by the Promoter. Upon manual entry into the system, the platform will allocate a random number from the remaining ticket pool. If the allocated postal ticket matches an unclaimed, seeded Instant Win identifier, the postal entrant will be awarded that prize. The Promoter accepts no liability if an Instant Win prize is legitimately claimed via the paid online route before a matching postal entry has arrived and been processed by our staff.
15.1 The Website utilizes a dual-wallet framework bound to each verified Entrant account, split into: (a) a "Site Credit Wallet" and (b) a "Withdrawable Wallet".
15.2 Site Credit Wallet: Balances within this wallet are generated via promotional campaigns, marketing incentives, or specified Instant Win outcomes. Site credits possess zero cash value, are completely non-transferable between user accounts, and can exclusively be used to purchase entries into active live competitions on the Website.
15.3 Withdrawable Wallet: Balances within this wallet are populated solely via confirmed cash prize payouts or cash-equivalent Instant Wins won by the Entrant on the Website. Entrants may request a manual withdrawal of funds from this wallet to a verified UK bank account held in their legal name, subject to the security provisions outlined in Clause 16.
15.4 System Overrides & Errors: The Promoter reserves the absolute right to audit, amend, or retrospectively reverse balances in either wallet if an internal software glitch, database desynchronisation, API error, or fraudulent activity resulted in an inaccurate balance allocation. The system transaction log maintained on our central servers serves as the definitive legal proof of true account balances.
16.1 In strict compliance with UK Anti-Money Laundering (AML) frameworks, funds held within the Site Credit Wallet can never, under any circumstances, be transferred, converted, or withdrawn into cash or shifted into the Withdrawable Wallet.
16.2 Verification Authority: The Promoter reserves the absolute right to audit and verify user identities prior to processing any manual withdrawal from the Withdrawable Wallet. While regular account balances whose registered data matches the destination withdrawal details are processed by default, the Promoter reserves the discretionary right to freeze any transaction and request formal verification documentation at any time if account anomalies or parameter disparities are suspected.
16.3 Mandatory Documentation Upon Request: Where an account verification is explicitly requested under Clause 16.2, the Entrant must upload a valid copy of a government-issued photo identification (Passport or UK Driving Licence) alongside a proof of residential address dated within the last three (3) months. Failure or refusal to supply satisfying verification proofs within 14 days of an audit notice will result in the immediate forfeiture of the wallet funds and account termination.
16.4 Destination Accounts: Cash wins will only be paid via electronic bank transfer (BACS) to a verified UK bank account. The registered name on the receiving bank account must perfectly match the legal name verified on the Entrant’s site profile and documentation. The Promoter reserves the right to freeze withdrawals and report suspicious account behaviors to the relevant UK authorities if third-party payout manipulation is suspected.
